Cao Bang est une province située à l’extrême Nord-Est du Vietnam, beaucoup moins connue que sa voisine d’Ha Giang c’est pourtant une région incroyable du Vietnam, une des plus belles ça c’est sûr ! Généralement vue uniquement par le prisme des cascades de Ban Gioc, c’est pourtant très loin d’être le plus bel endroit de Cao Bang. En effet la région possède des zones de rizières époustouflantes parmi les plus belles du Vietnam, des routes exceptionnelles et même un des plus beaux marchés des minorités du Vietnam ! En revanche pour l’organisation Cao Bang n’est pas la province la plus facile, il faut bien s’organiser pour éviter de refaire 3 fois les mêmes routes… mais ça je vous l’explique dans cet article ! Table des matières de cet article Contexte géographique et temporel Ce voyage a été effectué à la fin mai 2020, c’était un voyage à moto de 9 jours dans lequel Stéphane m’a accompagné pendant les 7 premiers jours et Céline pendant les 2 premiers jours donc si t’as fait l’ENA t’as compris qu’on était 3 au début. Ce voyage avait pour but de découvrir en profondeur la province de Cao Bang ainsi que de passer rapidement au lac Ba Be situé lui dans la province de Bac Kan. Tous les articles de ce voyage sont disponibles sur ce lien. Les plus beaux endroits de Cao Bang Tu as sûrement dû taper “quoi faire à Cao Bang” sur Google pour trouver cet article, je vais commencer directement par les plus beaux endroits de Cao Bang. J’ai mis ces endroits dans l’ordre d’importance et comme vous allez le voir les chutes de Ban Gioc sont assez basses dans ce classement La Vallée de Ngoc Con La route entre Pac Bo et Bao Lac Le marché de Bao Lac Les environs de Ban Gioc Les chutes de Ban Gioc Nam Tra Pac Bo et l’histoire d’Ho Chi Minh 1 L’incroyable vallée de Ngoc Con Je vais être dithyrambique sur la vallée de Ngoc Con et croyez-moi, cet endroit est exceptionnel. Pour faire simple c’est une immense vallée de rizières avec des petites montagnes karstiques de partout. C’est la baie d’Halong terrestre sans les bateaux mais en beaucoup plus belles oui oui. Nous avons visité la vallée au meilleur moment puisqu’il y avait des centaines de personnes en train de repiquer le riz, si vous y allez pendant l’hiver et sans riz ça ne devrait pas être si beau, mais si vous y êtes au bon moment je vous assure que vous allez vous rappeler un paquet d’année de Ngoc Con. Sachez que juste à côté de la vallée de Ngoc Con vous avez aussi la vallée de Phong Nam, les paysage sont similaires dans ces 2 vallées ainsi que sur la route entre les deux. Sachez que la vallée de Phong Nam est plus connue et se trouve à genre 30 minutes de route de la vallée de Ngoc Con. La vallée de Phong Nam est elle-aussi sublime mais pour moi un peu moins impressionnante. Si vous faites le chemin entre les deux la route est sublime de chez sublime si Ngoc Con, Phong Nam et la route entre les deux étaient à côté d’Halong il y aura des millions de visiteurs tous les ans. J’ai oublié de préciser mais je n’ai jamais vu ces endroits mentionnés sur des blogs Ngoc Con & Phong Nam donc vous devriez être tranquille, on a trouvé l’endroit un peu par hasard sur les conseils de notre homestay. Les points de vue de Ngoc Con et Phong Nam En regardant sur internet vous verrez un point de vue pour chaque vallée, je n’ai pas beaucoup cherché mais sachez que je n’ai pas trouvé ces 2 endroits. Ils n’étaient pas du tout indiqués et doivent être des petits chemins que connaissent les locaux qui montent sur des pics karstiques. Sans parler vietnamien bonne chance pour les trouver ! Lire l’article Ngoc Con – Une vallée sublime au Nord de Cao Bang – Boucle Nord-Est [2/9] 2. La route entre Pac Bo et Bao Lac La route entre Pac Bo et Bao Lac fut aussi un grand moment de ce voyage. La route est en bon état il y a quelques passages où le bitume est explosé, mais dans l’ensemble “ça va” et passe de vallées en vallées avec des panoramas à couper le souffle. Le marché de Bao Lac Des marchés des minorités dans le Nord j’en ai vu un paquet, et je mets sûrement Bao Lac dans mon top 3 des plus beaux marchés. Il ne se trouve pas dans un endroit exceptionnel mais le marché est vraiment intéressant, plein de choses différentes à vendre, quelques minorités intriguantes comme les Lolo noirs, un partie “bétail” assez intéressante… bref le marché de Bao Lac c’est du solide ! Attention nous avons été assez déçu par les environs de Bao Lac que l’on a pas trouvé époustoufflants, mais rien que pour son marché et pour la route mentionnée plus haut ça vaut le coup de venir ! Comment savoir quand est le marché ? Le marché de Bao Lac a lieu tous les jours 5 et 10 du calendrier lunaire, je vous invite à lire l’article consacré au marché de Bao Lac pour tout comprendre. 4. Les environs de Ban Gioc Comme l’a dit Céline, les chutes de Ban Gioc c’est juste l’apéro en parlant de la région de Ban Gioc, car oui on a tous préféré la région de Ban Gioc aux chutes d’eau. La zone est absolument superbe avec notamment la vue depuis la pagode “Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda Pass!” qui est à tomber par terre. La région autour de Ban Gioc est très rurale, ce n’est qu’une succession de villages, de rivières, de rizières et de montagnes de partout. Vraiment un endroit très sympa… et je vous donne l’adresse d’un excellent homestay anglophone plus bas. Les chutes de Ban Gioc Pourquoi mettre les chutes en cinquième seulement dans ce classement des choses à faire à Cao Bang ? Et bien pour nous c’est vraiment sa place surtout si vous n’avez pas de drône. Ne comprenez pas à l’envers ma phrase, les chutes de Ban Gioc sont très belles, c’est immense et impressionnant, les rizières à l’entrée sont très photogéniques… bref il faut y aller. Mais par rapport à Ngoc Con ou la route entre Bao et Pac Bo les chutes de Ban Gioc ne tiennent pas la comparaison. Attention car si vous n’avez pas de drone vous allez avoir toujours un peu les mêmes photos, les clichés incroyables de la chute d’eau sont pris avec un drône qui permet de voir les différents niveau de la cascade, pour un visiteur lambda on ne voit pas toute cette profondeur au niveau du sol et c’est donc un peu moins beau. Chute de Ban Gioc Chutes de Ban Gioc 6. Nam Tra Nam Tra est une très belle vallée qui se trouve dans les environs de Tra Linh, l’endroit est très facile d’accès et si vous n’avez pas beaucoup de temps sur place il devrait être aisé de caser Nam Tra quelques part. La vallée est petite mais vraiment jolie, surtout l’arrivée fait vraiment son effet. Pour les amoureux des chutes d’eau il y a aussi une cascade juste à côté je n’y suis pas allé, je déteste les cascades. Lire l’article Les 3 vallées – Phong Nam X Ngoc Con X Nam Tra – Boucle Nord-Est [8-9/9] Une très belle vallée juste à côté de Nam Tra A quelques kilomètres de Nam Tra se trouve une belle vallée de rizières, j’y ai fait de très belles photos. Il faut aller jusqu’aux coordonnées GPS “22°47’ 106°19’ Le lac de Thang Hen C’est marqué sur tous les guides en mode “quoi faire à Cao Bang” pourtant dans la réalité le lac de Thang Hen c’est complètement claqué surtout si vous comparez aux pépites mentionnées plus haut. Je le mentionne ici car le lac se trouve juste à côté de Nam Tra et que vous serez donc tenté d’y faire un tour. 7. Pac Bo et l’histoire d’Ho Chi Minh Un endroit très différent que je suis un peu obligé de mettre pour cela. Pac Bo est un lieu historique important pour le Vietnam puisque c’est ici qu’à habité Ho Chi Minh l’équivalent de De Gaulle puissance 1000 pour les vietnamiens. Loin de moi l’idée d’apprendre par coeur la vie de l’oncle Ho, il n’en demeure pas moins que la région de Pac Bo est superbe très montagneuse et que le chemin aménagé pour marcher jusqu’à la grotte est lui aussi très beau. Un bon arrêt dans la matinée avant d’enchaîner sur la route jusqu’à Bao Lac. Tous ces endroits sur une carte Bon maintenant vous vous dites il est bien gentil Brice mais on comprend rien aux noms, du coup je vous ai mis les numéros sur une carte pour avoir une vision d’ensemble des endroits à voir à Cao Bang Les marchés de la région de Cao Bang Il y a plusieurs choses à comprendre avant de partir pour un marché dans la région de Cao Bang. Sachez que la province de Cao Bang est très variée, dans les vallées assez prospères vous allez voir assez peu de minorités ethniques, les marchés sont donc intéressants mais il n’y aura pas de costumes de toutes les couleurs. En revanche dans les parties montagneuses du Nord-Ouest notamment à Bao Lac vous avez les villes qui sont peuplées de Kinh les vietnamiens mais les villages alentours qui sont des minorités ethniques plus rurales, moins “iPhone”. Le jour du marché il y a donc de nombreux habitants des environs qui viennent dans leurs plus beaux costumes pour acheter, vendre ou sociabiliser exactement comme à Bac Ha ou Dong Van. Les dates des marchés à Cao Bang Là où les marchés des minorités suivent principalement un jour précis le dimanche pour Bac Ha, le samedi pour Can Cau, etc., les marchés de la région de Cao Bang suivent le calendrier lunaire. Pour les étrangers c’est là que ça se complique énormément ! Pour faire simple les marchés ont des jours lunaires qui sont attribués, par exemple pour Tra Linh 4 & 9 et pour Bao Lac 5 & 10. Cela veut dire que tous les jours lunaires 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 il y aura le marché de Tra Linh, et tous les jours lunaires 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 le marché de Bao Lac. Cependant le calendrier lunaire est complètement déconnecté du calendrier “normal” donc les marchés peuvent être un mardi, puis un samedi… et 3 mois après un lundi et un vendredi. Attention, j’ai récupéré cette liste sur un site qui entre temps n’existe plus, je pense que l’entreprise a baissé le rideau. Je ne suis bien entendu pas allé dans tous ces marchés et je pense qu’il doit y avoir des erreurs, surtout pour les marché des petits villages. Vérifiez donc 2 à 3 fois sur d’autres sites ou auprès de votre homestay. Mais c’est pour vous donner une première piste et des idées. J’ai écrit un article qui vous explique tout ! 2 marchés “importants” de la région de Cao Bang Il existe, selon moi, 2 marchés vraiment différents dans la région de Cao Bang. Le premier est bien entendu le sublime marché de Bao Lac, pas besoin de l’expliquer pour la dixième fois, le marché de Bao Lac est sublime, grand et sera d’un intérêt certains pour vous. C’est un truc incontournable si vous êtes dans la région. Le second marché extrêmement intéressant c’est le marché aux bovins de Tra Linh, si vous aimez les marchés perdus au bout du monde alors cela devrait le faire. C’est censé être le plus grand marché aux bovins du Nord du Vietnam ; peur du COVID aidant, le marché était pour moi vide mais les installations sont grandes ! Les marchés, les visites… mais comment on organise Cao Bang et combien de temps y rester ? Cao Bang est une province assez difficile à organiser, en effet là où Ha Giang possède vraiment 2 boucles évidentes une à l’Est pour Dong Van & Meo Vac, une à l’Ouest pour Hoang Su Phi & Xin Man, la région de Cao Bang est beaucoup plus “flexible”, avec moins d’hébergements et pas si simples ! Je pense qu’il vous faudra au minimum 4 jours pour pouvoir bien profiter de la région. 4-5 jours à Cao Bang en aller/retour depuis Hanoi ou en continuant après sur Ha Giang / Ba Be Jour 1 Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Départ matinal pour Ban Gioc, vous devriez arriver peu avant midi, dans l’après-midi visite des chutes et de la vallée autour de Ban Gioc ne manquez pas la pagode au sommet de la montagne !. Nuit dans un des homestays de la région de Ban Gioc les adresses sont plus bas. Jour 2 Ban Gioc – Ngoc Con – Phong Nam – Nam Tra – Cao Bang Vous allez remonter par une petite route en direction de Ngoc Con, après avoir exploré la vallée vous continuerez jusqu’à la vallée de Phong Nam. Vous prendrez ensuite la direction de Nam Tra attention, ne coupez surtout pas par la DT211 qui est en mauvais état avant de rentrer à Cao Bang pour y passer la nuit. Cette journée sera sûrement la plus belle de votre voyage si vous voyagez pas en hiver Jour 3 Cao Bang – Pac Bo – Bao Lac Vous partez pour une autre journée magique, vous allez remonter directement sur Pac Bo pour découvrir la fameuse grotte d’Ho Chi Minh, puis vous longerez la frontière chinoise et ses incroyables vallées jusqu’à Bao Lac. Jour 4 Bao Lac – Cao Bang Après la découverte du marché qui vous prendra une bonne partie de la matinée, c’est l’heure de retourner à Cao Bang pour rendre votre moto Jour 4 pour un voyage vers Ha Giang Après le marché de Bao Lac vous allez remonter directement sur Meo Vac, je vous conseille de prendre la QL4C même si je l’ai jamais prise car le second itinéraire par la DT217 n’est pas incroyable celle là je l’ai pris et la route est défoncée. Jour 4 pour un voyage vers Ba Be Après le marché de Bao Lac vous allez partir pour une petite trotte, vous arriverez au lac Ba Be en fin de journée. Si vous cherchez l’aventure comme je l’expliquais dans l’article sur la route entre Bao Lac & Ba Be, dans ce cas vous pouvez couper par la route de Pac Nam conducteur expérimenté, envie d’avoir mal aux fesses et être un peu masochiste. Sinon prenez tout simplement la QL34 puis la DT212, attention le passage du col sur la DT212 peut-être vraiment froid il faisait 35-40° dans la vallées, au sommet on devait être à 15-20°, je vous laisse imaginer en hiver, faites super gaffe si vous le passez pendant une journée froide avec du brouillard car ça peut-être très dangereux. Sachez que pour être plus tranquille et si vous aimez pas passer la journée sur la moto je vous recommande d’ajouter une seconde journée à Ban Gioc c’est à dire ajouter une journée entre le jour 2 et 3. Cela vous permettrait potentiellement de plus profiter de la région Ban Gioc et d’aller voir Phong Nam & Ngoc Con dans l’après-midi avant de revenir à Ban Gioc. Sinon la journée 2 est un délire aussi bien pour les paysages que… pour le temps que vous allez passer sur la moto ! J’arrive de Ha Giang Si vous venez de Ha Giang il vous suffit de prendre cet itinéraire dans le sens inverse, si vous souhaitez impérativement passer par Ba Be ce que je ne recommende pas si vous n’avez pas besoin de rendre votre moto à Hanoi vous pouvez redescendre directement depuis Bao Lac puis par la suite revenir jusqu’à Cao Bang. Cao Bang en 2-3 jours Dans ce cas il vous suffit de prendre l’itinéraire ci-dessus et d’enlever Bao Lac, c’est dommage car la route est superbe et le marché est très beau mais c’est votre seule solution. Est-ce que Bao Lac est plus impressionnant que la région de Ban Gioc et Ngoc Con ? Non… donc il n’y a pas à chercher à comprendre et si vous n’avez pas le temps allez directement à Ban Gioc. Cao Bang en profondeur ? Nous on est des fous ! On a passé un temps assez important et pourtant on a pas eu le temps d’aller partout, dans l’idée il manquait La Route Coloniale 4 La route coloniale qui remonte jusqu’à Cao Bang et qui a été le témoin de batailles terribles ; c’est une route qui allait de Lao Cai à Mong Cai et qui est très connue pour les français à cause de la Bataille de la RC4. La région autour de Nguyen Binh La zone avait l’air vraiment belle, malheureusement on a pas vraiment pu la découvrir Comme souvent faites attention aux sites en français lorsque vous tapez “quoi faire à Cao Bang“, tout simplement car ils se recopient tous entre eux, qu’on a l’impression qu’aucun n’y est allé y’a que des photos de styles très différents, etc.. Je vous conseille plutôt de regarder sur des blogs anglophones notamment Vietnam Coracle son blog est vraiment tourné 100% route/moto ; c’est très léger pour le reste mais pour préparer un trip en moto c’est le meilleur. Vous trouverez plusieurs articles qui traitent de Cao Bang sur son site. Où louer un scooter ou une moto pour ce voyage ? QT Motorbike évidemment ! QT Motorbike est un excellent loueur qui se trouve dans la ville d’Ha Giang, tout le monde passe par eux et honnêtement ils ont plein de motos différentes, et surtout elles sont en excellent état. Ils ont ouvert récemment enfin ça doit faire 2 ans maintenant un bureau beaucoup plus petit à Cao Bang. La magie étant qu’il est donc possible de louer sa moto dans un bureau et de la rendre dans l’autre moyennant un petit supplément. Oui vous avez déjà fait le rapprochement, c’était exactement le problème que vous aviez pour combiner Cao Bang et Ha Giang sans devoir faire 2 jours de motos pour revenir à votre point de départ. Cette fois nous avons loué 3 motos à QT 3 semi-auto 110 ou 125, je sais plus haut et honnêtement c’était parfait, les motos étaient neuves, avec énormément de pâtates en ligne droite sur une bonne route on peut rouler à 70-80-90. Au retour ils sont pas embêtants, bref parfait et à recommander chaudement. Mise à jour Novembre 2022 D’après les derniers commentaires il semble que QT ait fermé sa boutique à Cao Bang ! Merci à Victoire pour le commentaire “je te donne juste une mise à jour QT motocycles a fermé à Cao Bang, mais ils ont un partenaire Cao Bang Eco Homestay », à qui on peut louer à Cao Bang et rendre à Ha Giang ou Hanoï, et vice versa! donc tes itinéraires restent possibles ” Où dormir dans la province de Cao Bang ? Vous avez 3 villes où vous allez sûrement passer au moins une nuit. La ville de Cao Bang, la région de Ban Gioc et Bao Lac. La région de Ban Gioc Je vous conseille vraiment d’aller au Lan Homestay, c’est un homestay impeccable, c’est très propre et c’est situé au bord d’une rivière à seulement quelques kilomètres des chutes de Ban Gioc. La propriétaire Lan est du coin et parle plutôt bien anglais. Bref ça fait énormément de points positifs communication, propreté, emplacement. Si vous souhaitez passer une journée à ne rien faire au bord d’une rivière c’est d’ailleurs l’endroit parfait ! La ville de Cao Bang Aussi surprenant que ça paraisse pour une ville aussi grande que Cao Bang, il n’y a que très peu de variété dans le choix des hôtels. Vous n’avez strictement aucun hôtel haut de gamme et aucun avec une piscine ! Dans l’idée vous avez 3 types d’hôtels Le Nha Nghi “classique” ta chambre dans un bâtiment de plusieurs étages, ils te fournissent que la chambre Le Homestay “vietnamien” exactement comme le Nha Nghi sauf que c’est mignon et que ça plait aux jeunes vietnamiens en voyage Un hôtel “normal” Max Boutique hôtel est le meilleur hôtel de la ville La ville de Bao Lac Alors c’était un peu la galère, j’avais pris un homestay qui devait nous organiser une journée de trekking jusqu’à un village des Lolo noirs, sauf que le mec avait complètement craqué sur les prix de son trekking genre 120$ pour 2 personnes pour 1 journée et que finalement son homestay était pas si bien que ça honnêtement c’était un peu crade. Du coup je ne vous recommande pas l’adresse, juste à côté il y avait Sunny Hostel & Homestay où on a pas dormi mais qui était tenue par une femme super sympa qui faisait d’excellents jus de mangue. Sinon le meilleur hôtel de la ville semble être Duc Thai Hôtel en vietnamien Khách sạn Đức Tài, mais attention car on est à Bao Lac donc ne vous attendez pas à grand chose ! Où manger dans la province de Cao Bang ? Alors là je donne ma langue aux chats, vous n’avez quasiment aucun restaurant dans la région, c’est toujours des petites gargottes locales où l’on cuisine du riz avec plein de choses différentes. On a eu de très bonnes expériences bonne nourriture & très abordable et des moins bonnes nourriture normale et la mama qui te demande 8 balles. Bref faites comme vous sentez et suivez s’il y a des vietnamiens dans le restaurants toujours bon signe. A Cao Bang je me dois de vous mentionner Pedro’s pizza, c’est un suisse italien qui habite sur place et qui fait d’excellentes pizzas à des tarifs raisonnables. Je vous recommande chaudement l’endroit si vous en avez marre de manger du riz et c’est juste à côté de QT motorbikes. Comment venir en bus jusqu’à Cao Bang ? Vous pouvez regarder directement sur Vexere, Cao Bang étant une grande ville du Nord-Est vous aurez de nombreux bus depuis Hanoi, mais aussi des bus depuis Ha Giang par exemple. Combien ça coûte de voyager dans cette région ? Voyager dans la province de Cao Bang ça coûte rien du tout, étant donné qu’il n’y a pas de restaurant, que les hôtels sont basiques, c’est difficile de dépenser de l’argent. Conclusions sur Cao Bang, j’y vais ou j’y vais pas ? Si vous souhaitez découvrir le Nord en profondeur genre 2 semaines je pense que passer 4-5 jours dans la région de Cao Bang est incontournable. La zone est absolument sublime et les plus beaux endroits mentionnés plus haut dans l’article sont à tomber par terre. Il faut impérativement faire de la moto, parfois être assez peu regardant sur les hôtels mais si vous tombez dans cette catégorie un peu “baroudeur” et que vous avez du temps Cao Bang sera un de vos coups de coeur au Vietnam, pour moi c’est la seconde plus belle région du Vietnam… alors que je déteste les cascades ! Si vous ne faites pas de moto et des transports publics je serai d’un avis complètement différent, en effet les lieux les plus beaux Ngoc Con, la route entre Bao Lac et Pac Bo ne sont pas accessibles en transports publics et à ce titre je vous recommande d’aller autre part, le Nord du Vietnam est magnifique et d’autres endroits seront plus faciles. Si vous avez un chauffeur/guide dans ce cas pas de problème particulier, les routes sont souvent très bonnes et quasiment tout est accessible en 4×4 au moins. Après je trouve que ça fait énormément de route pour Ngoc Con par exemple, j’aurais tendance à plutôt me focaliser sur Ban Gioc et sa région pour éviter de faire des jours et des jours dans la voiture ! Si vous n’avez pas assez de temps et que vous n’avez par exemple que 5-6 jours pour le Nord du Vietnam, je vous recommande vraiment de vous focaliser sur Ha Giang qui est la plus belle région où j’ai eu la chance d’aller en… Asie ! donc aussi au Vietnam. Ha Giang est incroyable et encore un niveau au dessus de Cao Bang. Ha Giang c’est vraiment le nec plus ultra du voyage en Asie !
